I was originally trained as a Birth Doula in 1999. During this time, I sat on the Doula Services Association of B.C. (DSA) Board of Directors while working with Birthing Families in the Vancouver Area. As a Birth Doula, CD(DONA), I provide prenatal education, continuous labour support, as well postpartum and breastfeeding support to new and expecting families.

I have experience working with home, hospital, twin, vaginal, breech, cesarean, VBAC, vacuum, and forceps births. I also work with both traditional and same sex families to empower them to actively find their own path in how they bring new life into the world, and grow and develop as parents.

My most recent certification in Acupressure for Labour has been proving to radically transform my practice by speeding labour, giving partner’s a greater tool to assist the labouring mom, and overall, having mom feel more supported. I am also a Breastfeeding Counselor and work on a consulting basis to assist moms with breastfeeding challenges. I value the importance of breastfeeding for both mother and baby as well I recognize the potential difficulties many women may face. I also actively work as a Professional Postpartum Doula where I support new parents or those with older children or multiples to have a smooth transition into parenthood. I specialize in working with multiples and have experience with both twins and triplets. I have also completed the Pacific Postpartum Support Society Community Support Training Program which enables me to facilitate community postpartum support groups.

I am currently a Birthing From Within® Mentor and lead classes for both new and experienced parents in Vancouver, as well as teach private classes in the comfort of parents’ homes. I believe that childbirth is more than just a one time event, but a vehicle to a more mindful lifestyle and an extremely dynamic and powerful initiation into parenthood.

I currently am the UrbanMommies.com ‘Expert Doula’ where I provide advice and resources to parents’ questions regarding birth and the postpartum period. I also actively volunteer in the Vancouver Birthing Community as the President of the Vancouver Family Roots Society, a non-profit organization geared toward community growth and awareness to natural health options

My passion for childbirth, families and children has made me realize my true potential in contributing to the world as I know the everlasting impact that I can make on every birthing family that I encounter! I call on every birthing family to see their own true potential during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.
