Cherish Childbirth is committed to empowering birthing. We believe that birth is much more than a one-time event, it is an opportunity for self-discovery. It is our mission to educate clients about their options so they can make informed choices. At Cherish it is our role to support these decisions. We act as both teachers and mentors while helping families prepare for childbirth and parenthood.

We respect birth as a profound right of passage for women and a pivotal moment for families. Cherish understands that everyone’s needs must be protected. We are grounded in the philosophy that the way an expecting family experiences pregnancy and birth has lasting effects not only in the immediate postpartum period but also continues through everyone’s lives. During this time Parents’ attitudes and confidence towards parenting can be heavily influenced while the family unit and relationship between parents can be positively developed.

We view childbirth preparation not as a way to plan and achieve a specific outcome but as preparation to birth-in-awareness. We prepare parents to look within themselves and connect with the skills they have, and need, to give birth consciously and powerfully. This is often a personal growth process for the expectant parents. To support this we prepare and support parents from an all-encompassing holistic perspective that allow for personal growth and exploration.

As Doulas and Childbirth Educators we are also committed to our own personal and professional growth and development. By renewing our own education and updating our knowledge base and resource network we continually grow as professionals. Being an exceptional birth attendant also means developing through hands on experience and working through our own personal fears, biases and blocks. Education and experience allow us to be grounded at a birth providing the best possible experience for the families to be.
